Student
Selection:
A Rigorous Student Selection and Working
Process:
1. Typically, the teacher
and/or the school principal
initiates contact with GCSF, nominating
students,
explaining why they should be considered
for the
scholarship.
2. To make an evaluation for granting the scholarship,
GCSF volunteers travel at their own
expense to the often
impoverished neighborhoods to interview
the nominated
students, their parents, teachers and
schools principal, and
to witness the students’ living
condition.
3. The scholarship is granted based on the following
guidelines: academic achievements and
GPA; the financial
condition of the family; recommendation
from teachers
and school principal; and student’s
willingness to help other
students.
4. Once the scholarship is granted, a GCSF academic
representative is assigned to work with
the student for one
academic year. Funds are provided to the
parents on a
monthly basis under the supervision of
the assigned GCSF
academic representative.
There
are three categories of students

assistance.
